Glock to discontinue most pistols, replace with V

 Glock will discontinue all pistols except 43, 43X, 48X beginning Nov. 30th, 2025.

The dropped models will be replaced by new V Models. The major difference was changes made to block switch conversions. The first productions will be non-MOS versions. Expected new pistol shipment date is Dec. 2025

Glock has been facing several lawsuits regarding the switch conversions. The switch are illegal under federal law, but several states were going after Glock for not changing the structure to prevent it. This seems to be engineering solution to avoid further problems.

 Mr Guns n Gear posted an interesting information about a possible Glock carbine submitted for British Force evaluation.

From the looks of it, the information seems pretty good.

The joke about Glock Carbine has been around for decades and we finally get to see one. It's an AR-15 platform.

Smith & Wesson CSX

 Smith & Wesson announced this micro-compact pistol.

 

 

It is a single action pistol with thumb safety and slide lock that looks very similar to that of a 1911. However the controls are ambidextrous, and grip backstrap can be replaced. It has some extra featured such as serrated slide top and additional magazine release for left handed shooters.

Lower is made from aluminum so it's not another polymer pistol. In a sense this is looks like - at least from the outside - a practical, updated modern version of a 1911-esque pistol. MSRP is $609

Despite it's similarity to SHIELD line, magazines and holsters are not compatible. Also, many other reviews point out the false reset, which is when the trigger feels like it hit the reset point, when it didn't. By releasing the trigger more, it goes away and you hit the real reset point, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Glock's new offerings

 Glock is coming out with some new and some from the past

New: G43X and G48 with MOS and accessory rail is coming out.

From the past: Glock P80 Classic Edition, a reproduction of the first Glock to be made. Lipsey's is bringing it in. It won't have the Tennifer finish due to regulations. The case will be similar to the original Tupperware-ish box, but it lacks the ammunition area it originally had.

South Korean Special Forces buying DSAR-15PC

South Korean Special Forces(ROKSF) will be purchasing some piston-driven AR manufactured by Dasan Machineries. Dasan Machineries was chosen as the preferred suppliers to replace its aging Daewoo K1A carbine.



Some interesting tidbits

• piston system(possibly short stroke)
• uses two stage trigger. Trigger pull weight is reportedly around 4.5 lbs
• no forward assist
• quad rail system, possibly with QD mount
• ambidextrous safety, magazine release
• selector can be put on safe even with hammer down

About 1,000 will be supplied in a few months, followed by more purchases(around 10,000 units) later.

The red dot sight is from a company called EO Systems.

Japan unveils Type 20 rifle

Japanese Self Defense Force unveiled its Type 20 rifle. It has similar features as a SCAR and is chambered for 5.56 NATO round, although 7.62 version may be in development

According to an article on Nihon Keizai Shimbun, each rifle will cost about 280,000 Yen(about $2,600 US). 3,000 rifles will be purchased on Fiscal Year 2020.

300 H&K SPF9(VP9 in US) will be purchased this year as well.

Japanese Self Defense Forces gets new firearms

Japanese Ministry of Defense announced they chose HOWA 5.56 rifle to replace Type 89 rifles.

Also, H&K SFP9(known as VP9 in US) will be the standard issue pistol.

For rifles, the contenders were HK 416 and FN SCAR-L, and for pistols Beretta APX and Glock 17.

No words on production date, but considering it took years to replace Type 89, it will be a long time for HOWA 5.56 to be issued to everyone.

S&T Motiv's new rifle STC-16

S&T Motiv(formerly Known as Daewoo) is the company in charge of South Korea's standard issue rifles. Recently some information came out regarding a new rifle that looks like an AR variant.



Looking at the video, it seems to have ambidextrous features for safety selector, magazine release, and bolt release. It's unclear how the new bolt release systems works as a bolt lock or not, but unlike a lot of AR, it is located right in front of the trigger guard.

Gas systems seems to be a short-stroke gas system.

Some parts are reusing K1 and K2 rifles parts, such as magazine release and selector lever.

Supposedly it uses 1:7 twist barrel in 12 to 16 inches

Instead of updating the K1/K2 like with K2C1 and K2C , it's a possible change from nearly 40 years of K1/K2 design. It's unknown what prompted this change, but it will be interesting how this develops from here.

Swedish K

LAV shoots the Egyptian licensed version in this video, which is essentially the same.


This gun was well-regarded and had uses outside of US Special Forces during the Vietnam War as some helicopter pilots carried it. There was a story called 'The Curse of Swedish K' from a long time ago.
