Olympic changes shooting events for 2020

International Olympic Committee decided to replace 3 events with 3 new ones in shooting for 2020 Tokyo Olympic

Dropped: Men's 50m Rifle Prone, Men's 50m Pistol, Men's Double Trap

Added: Trap Mixed Gender Team, 10m Air Rifle Mixed Gender Team, 10m Air Pistol Mixed Gender Team


The move is to make the game attractive for younger, urban, and female audience.

The total number of competitive shoots also got shrunk from 390 in Rio to 360


50m Pistol was part of Olympic games since 1896, 50m Rifle Prone since 1912, while Men's Double Trap started in 1996

Kim Rhodes wins again at ISSF World Cup India

Kim Rhodes World Cup stop in New Delhi, India. The skeet shoot implemented the new rule of progressive elimination Final. According to AmmoLand.com, Shooters

shoot in qualification rank order, with that ranking deciding any ties for third thru sixth place.

The new Skeet Final is now based on 10-target sequences with eliminations or medal decisions occurring after 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 targets. Rhode missed two targets out of her first 16 shots and then didn’t miss again for 33 consecutive targets to easily out-distance all her rivals, missing just four her 60 shots total.

Max Michel sets Guinness World Record

Max Michel shot six 8-inch plates from 7 meters in 2.05 seconds from holster. This attempt also established a new category in the Guinness World Record.

Pistol used for the attempt was SIG Sauer P320RX with ROMEO3.

Malaysian Head of State shooting IPSC

Malaysia has a system where one part of government is lead by Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who is elected among rulers of 9 states with hereditary rule.

The most recent is Muhammad V of Kelantan, who atteneded an IPSC shooting

IPSC ranking

IPSC started in US, but can be found in  other countries as well. US has USPSA, while IPSC is the predominant outside of US and it envelopes all IPSC groups. There are some diffeence between USPSA and IPSC rules so it's hard to compare one-to-one, but IPSC decided to see who ranks where by using  the number of points actually achieved by a competitor at an IPSC Handgun World Shoot multiplied by 100 and divided by the total points available.

Currently, Eric Grauffel is the leader in Open and Production Division, while Rob Leatham is the top dog in the Standard and Classic Division.

NRA High Power Rifle Championship is moving

NRA is moving National High Power Rifle Championships to Camp Atterbury, Indiana from the current venue, Camp Perry. The move is not finalized, but the request for approval is going out to NRA Board of Directors.

This is only the Championship match moving. Other CMP matches held at Camp Perry will still be held.
